Rani Padmavati

Many of the stories that we know turn out to be either unreal, ficticious or oviously true. But the story or I would term it as legend about Rani Padmavati also known as Rani Padmini is widely debatable. Some take it as a medium to glorify the RAJPUTANA history while some consider it to be true.
Rani Padmavati is well known for three reasons:

1 Her Bravery-  From the childhood she  was taught sword fighting. She is also know for the brave act of jumping into the johar kund first.

2 Her Bet- for the swayambar many of the kings and the prince had come over to win her heart. She asked them to fight with the warrior at the court and who ever wins the fight gets to marry her. But none knew  that it was Rani Padmavati in disguise of the warrior.

3 Her Beauty- It was the poet Chetan who instigated Alludin Khiliji to attack Chittorgarh as he wanted to take a revenge on Raja Rana for throwing him out of the kingdom on being caught performing blackmagic and killing people. He did this by singing poems on her beauty. Alludin later requested Raja Rana to show Rani Padmavati. Even though her had a glance of her that too in a mirror, he got smitten by her. Later this lead to a war where Raja died and Rani killed herself by jumping into the johar kund.
